The Forest Hills High School Guidance Department/Pupil Personnel Services is led by Assistant Principal, IA, Judy Aguayo-Nunez .  Her office is located in room 114.  She is available from 7:00am to 3:00pm.  The Secretary to the A.P. of Guidance is Mrs. Sharon Solimando her extension is 1140.

Guidance Department-
The Guidance Counselors at Forest Hills High School work to promote student success through comprehensive school counseling programs which include developmental, preventive, remedial, and responsive services. The role of the counselors is to address all students’ academic, personal/social and career development needs.
Some of the services provided by guidance counselors are:
 Academic Improvement and Planning (Programming)
 Personal/Social Growth
 Crisis Intervention
 Individual and/or Group Counseling
 Transitional Services
 Parent Support
The Guidance Department provides students, faculty, parents, and staff with supportive services and a strong team-based relationship.
Guidance Counselors are available to all in Room 105 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.  See the specific schedule in the attachment below.

College Office – It is never too early to start thinking about and preparing for your college experience. The College Office, located in Room 218, is open from 7:18am to 2:30pm daily. The main goal of this office is to aid and assist our students in making wise choices for their post- high school education. The college counselors are available to answer your questions, meet with parents, write letters of recommendation, and review and process college applications.

Reminder: Students are NOT allowed to miss their classes to see a guidance counselor. They must come to room 105 during their lunch or free period. If a counselor needs to speak to a student; that counselor will call the student out of class.

NYIT Academy

NYIT Academy was created for American and international students ages 15 and over to offer a variety of programs and jump start their college education. Our programs combine academic instruction with hands-on learning opportunities and unique cultural experiences.

Which program is right for them?
All of our programs are offered in both tuition-only and campus life immersion packages, which include chaperoned housing and additional social, academic, and cultural programming. Scholarships and discounts are available.

Admissions Requirements

  • Ages 15 and older.
  • No prerequisites are necessary.
  • Completed application form
  • 250 word biographical statement (in English), telling us about yourself, your interests, and what you do in your spare time.
  • $500 deposit.
  • Proof of immunizations at time of application submission.
  • Individual programs may have additional requirements.
  • International students welcome. Please submit a copy of your passport with your application materials.

Application Deadlines

  • May 1: For students applying for a scholarship.
  • June 15: Final application date for students not seeking scholarships.

Over the course of these one- to four-week programs, students will be able to learn through projects, field trips, tours, guest speakers, and much more. They will connect with current NYIT students and faculty, and learn about different majors and career opportunities available.
