Grade Point Average

The report card Grade Point Average is the total average of a marking period’s grades.  It takes into account the credit value for each course as well as any weighting for honors or advanced placement work.

Grade Point Average on your report card is calculated following the below formula:

(Grade x weighting x credit value) / Total credits = MP Average

Here is an example of how this works:

Course Code Description MP 2 Grade   weighting   Credit Value
HVS11 Part. In Gov. 95 x 1 x 1 = 95
SBN11X AP Biology 88 x 1.1 x 2 = 193.6
MRN11 Alg. 2/ Trig 88 x 1 x 2 = 176
EEN44 English 3 75 x 1 x 2 = 150
SPN11H Physics 85 x 1.05 x 2 = 178.5
SPN11QL Physics Lab 88 x 1 x 0 = 0
PHS11 Health 95 x 1 x 1 = 95
PPS11QMF Phys. Ed 90 x 1 x 0 = 0
