Music Academy

The Forest Hills H.S. Music Academy provides a four year sequence of instruction in music theory and performance classes.  It is our goal that by the end of this sequence, you will be prepared for continued music study and performance at the university level if you so desire.  We encourage and recommend that you own your own instrument but it is not mandatory.  At home practice is required.  I want to take this opportunity to outline your course of study in music. It is as follows:

9th grade          Performance Ensemble Only

10th grade        Performance in Music Theory (level 1) +at least one Performance Ensemble

11th grade        Performance in Music Theory (level 2) +at least one Performance Ensemble

12th grade        Performance in Music Theory (level 3) +at least one Performance Ensemble

Your performance ensemble is determined by your current abilities and interests.  As your musicianship grows, more ensembles will be available to you.
